Reed Richards and Johnny Storm look a little different in this timeline.

John Krasinski and Chris Evans, who both played Fantastic Four characters in separate films, teaming up for a hilarious ’80s-themed skit on Tuesday’s episode The late show in which Krasinski, who was recently crowned PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive, dished out some ridiculous tips and tricks to make host Stephen Colbert more attractive.

However, the seemingly innocent sketch took a strange twist when Krasinski tasked Colbert with tracking down Evans — who was previously named PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2022 — and stealing his DNA. “What the f—?” shouted a coughing Evans after Colbert’s surprise swab test. In response, the host confessed, “I need your spit to make me sexy!”

Spit successfully obtained, Colbert returned to Krasinski’s lab, where the actor revealed that the next step in his journey would be to “extract Chris Evans’ sexy DNA using the genetic lab you built with the money you you have earned’. The office will be performed again.”

After a brief break for some sexy workouts on a treadmill, Krasinski gave Colbert the synthesized serum from Evans’ DNA that unfortunately wouldn’t turn him into Captain America or Johnny Storm, but would hopefully make him sexier.

“Now the transformation takes about 14 hours, during which your body will try to reject every cell in it,” Krasinski explained cheerfully as Colbert fell to the ground, clawing at his throat. “Like a butterfly, your internal organs reorganize themselves – don’t touch me – into a more beautiful and symmetrical formation.”

The Jack Ryan The star then woke the sleeping Colbert to reveal that he was now sporting Chris Evans’ face. “It worked!” Krasinski cheered. “Stefan, you look great!”

Colbert replied, “I feel great!” I feel like the sexiest man in the world!” To which Krasinski teased, “Sure, maybe in 2022, but this year it’s me.”

Despite both the lead role and Fantastic Four characters, Krasinski and Evans never really shared the screen together as members of Marvel’s first family, as their films were set on different timelines. Krasinski starred in 2022 as a version of Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswhile Evans played Johnny/the Human Torch in Fox’s first two Fantastic Four films and recently reprized the role Deadpool and Wolverine. Evans, of course, also played Steve Rogers/Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for about eight years.

They’re not the only actors to have spent time as characters, either. Top Gun: Maverick‘s Miles Teller and Religion‘S Michael B. Jordan also played Reed and Johnny in Fox’s 2015 Fantastic Four reboot, and Pedro Pascal and Joseph Quinn will be putting their spin on the characters in Marvel’s upcoming film, Fantastic Four: the first steps.
