Kings’ DeMar DeRozan was fouled out at halftime vs. Suns due to a tight back

DeMar DeRozan, who leads the team with 24.8 points per game, was ruled out at halftime of the Kings’ Wednesday game against the Phoenix Suns due to lower back tightness.

It’s unclear when the injury occurred, but DeRozan, whose scoring is the result of 17.5 field goal attempts per game, attempted just two shots in the first half.

The former Raptor, now 35, is in his first year with the Kings after splitting the last six evenly between the San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls.

DeRozan has appeared in all 12 Kings games this season.

In his absence, the team could look to senior guard De’Aaron Fox and big man Domantas Sabonis to fill the scoring hole.

The team’s next game is Friday at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
