Rainy and cool before a slight warming occurs

Wet and cool on Thursday, then slowly warming up as the weekend progresses before more rain arrives.

  • THURSDAY: Steady rain early, then scattered showers, cloudy, high 53.
  • THIS EVENING: Light rain showers, drizzle, cool, low 48.
  • FRIDAY: Cloudy, steady sprinkles/drizzle, high 54.
  • SATURDAY: Partly cloudy, high 56.
  • SUNDAY: Partly cloudy, high 61.
  • MONDAY: Partly cloudy, slight chance of rain, high 62.
  • TUESDAY: Cloudy, chance of scattered rain, high 63.
  • WEDNESDAY: Cloudy, chance of scattered rain, high 60.

Grab the rain gear today, including rain boots or old shoes. It will be a soggy morning thanks to the persistent rain overnight. Precipitation totals will be about an inch or more by daybreak. This morning’s lingering rain will move east, leaving central Ohio with cloudy skies with isolated rain showers through the afternoon, afternoon and evening.

Temperatures will be around 40 degrees this morning and will only warm to a high of 53 degrees today with a stiff breeze from the south, 10-20 mph. Precipitation totals will approach 1” by the end of the day, with some showers exceeding that. We will continue to get some sprinkles and drizzle tonight and tomorrow morning. So we remain damp, but not nearly as wet as today.

We will start tomorrow with a morning low around 48 and then only warm to a high of 54. It will be a gray Friday with light winds from the northwest at 5-10 mph.

This weekend we will see a little more sun, but it will remain mostly cloudy. Saturday we’ll start the morning off with temperatures in the mid 40s before warming up to a high around 56. Sunday will be even cooler in the morning with temperatures dropping to the 40s but then bouncing back up to a maximum of around 61.

We’ll start next week with a very small chance of rain on Monday, warming up to a high around 62. A slightly higher chance of rain Tuesday and Wednesday, but currently only about a 40% chance of rain for these days . We will remain mild through the middle of the week with high temperatures of 63 and then 60 for Tuesday and Wednesday. Much cooler air will return next weekend.

TROPICAL UPDATE: We have potential Tropical Cyclone Nineteen just east of Central America, in the southwestern Caribbean. This storm is likely to become Tropical Storm Sara today and remain near Honduras in the coming days. According to forecast models, it will start moving towards the Yucatán Peninsula from the weekend until early next week.

From there, there is still some uncertainty about the track as a strong cold front moves across the Gulf early next week, which will impact the storm’s track. There is also some uncertainty in the track as it will not move much for the next few days; and as it moves inland it will weaken still further.
