Eva Longoria reveals she has moved her family out of the ‘dystopian’ United States

Eva Longoria revealed this week that she and her family have left the “dystopian” United States and are now splitting their time between Mexico and Spain.

“I’ve spent my entire adult life here,” Longoria said Marie Claire of the US “But even before (the pandemic) it was changing. The atmosphere was different. And then COVID happened, and it pushed it over the edge. Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, it’s not that I want to shit on California – it just feels like this chapter in my life is over.”

The Desperate housewives actress called the election one of the reasons for the finality of her conviction. “The shocking thing is not that he won,” she said last week about Donald Trump’s victory. “It’s that a convicted criminal who radiates so much hate can hold the highest office.

“If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place,” she said. Longoria also took a moment to remember Trump’s 2016 victory, when she said, “I’ve never been depressed in my life.

“It was like, ‘Does my vote really matter? Am I really making a difference?’” she says. “I was so untethered to the core of what I believe because I really believed in my soul that the best person wins. And then that happened, and I was like, ‘Oh, wait. The best person doesn’t win. ”

Longoria further acknowledged that she is “privileged” to be able to make the decision to move. “I can escape and go somewhere,” she said. “Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They will be stuck in this dystopian country, and my fear and sadness are for them.”

The actress now lives with her husband, José Bastón, and their son, 6-year-old Santiago, in Mexico and Spain. She often ends up elsewhere in Europe and South America for work, but does not often return to Los Angeles.

Elsewhere in the profile, Longoria spoke about her upcoming 50th birthday. “For me, age is just a number, but I’m excited,” she said. “I refuse to believe that my greatest success is behind me.”
