Ja Morant’s injury status for Grizzlies-Warriors

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been sidelined due to a posterior hip subluxation and pelvic muscle strain. The star point guard suffered this injury against the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Grizzlies announced an official update after that game:

“While attempting to catch a lob during the third quarter of the November 6 game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Morant was destabilized in mid-air by a Lakers player, sending him into extreme right hip flexion. Imaging revealed a posterior hip subluxation (without dislocation) along with multiple associated grade 1 pelvic muscle strains. Morant will be monitored on a week-by-week basis and updates will be provided as necessary.”

There hasn’t been any further update from the Grizzlies other than this, but Morant has officially been ruled out for Friday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors.

Needless to say, this is a huge loss for the Grizzlies as they try to stay in the Western Conference playoffs. The Grizzlies are no strangers to injuries. The Grizzlies dealt with several last season, and this season they have had to deal with injuries again.

While Memphis has been incredibly unlucky with injuries, it still has some high-level rotation players who perform well on a nightly basis. This will make head coach Taylor Jenkins’ job very tough once the Grizzlies are fully healthy, as there are several players who deserve regular rotation minutes.

For now, the Grizzlies are focused on staying afloat without Morant, who hopefully won’t be sidelined much longer. This matchup against the 9-2 Warriors will be tough without the star point guard.
