Genoa, Nevada – Power has been restored in Fish Springs after a dump truck struck and splintered a utility pole near Out R Way and Old Ranch Road around 11 a.m. Wednesday. Only after 6 p.m. did power return to approximately 40 NV Energie customers

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Valley, a public safety outage is affecting 33 NV Energy customers along Jacks Valley Road north of Genoa. Power will be restored sometime this morning after workers check the lines.

A red flag warning issued late Wednesday morning expired at 7pm without any reports of major fires. The anemometer at Alpine View clocked a gust of 90 km/h at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Ninety minutes later, the gauge along Highway 88 between the Mottsville and Centerville lanes had a gust of 55 miles per hour.

Wednesday’s flood workshop was a bit like a flood, with a large wave at first, subsiding to a trickle as it continued. The county is continuing the next step in its flood mitigation work along Pine Nut Creek.

We may see some snow in the Sierra tonight and Friday with a little bit below. There is a 1 in 5 chance of snow bands hitting one of Western Nevada’s valleys, depending on wind direction and temperature.

There is a small chance of showers between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Today after 10 p.m. the chance of showers increases. Otherwise, the forecast calls for mostly sunny temperatures and a high of 54 degrees.
