Arkansas Razorbacks are unable to complete the disrupted bid thanks to turnovers

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Turnover. Arkansas fans have probably heard enough this season, as the Razorbacks have committed 17 turnovers.

Ball control was quite an issue in the Hogs’ five losses, forcing 13 turnovers with just one takeaway. If the Razorbacks don’t beat themselves, this group can make a game of it, including a home win over then-No. 4 Tennessee in early October.

That feels like forever ago, considering the team has only won once since that night. The Razorbacks were once again competitive looking to defeat No. 3 Texas, but two turnovers nipped their hopes in the bud.

Arkansas’ lack of ball security started early when wide receiver Tyrone Broden allowed himself to lose control of his catch, resulting in a Texas interception.

The Razorbacks’ second turnover allowed true freshman wide receiver C.J. Brown to throw away a first down as the offense cut into Texas’ lead. Offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino tried to choose something other than feeding a stud like Andrew Armstrong or Isaiah Sategna.

Armstrong remains quarterback Taylen Green’s most reliable option with six receptions for 74 yards. He single-handedly expanded Arkansas’ possessions in the second half with a handful of contested catches.

Travis Williams’ defense contributed admirably, keeping the Longhorns’ offense out of its usual rhythm. It limited Texas to its second-lowest offensive output of the season with 315 yards and 20 points.

If the offense doesn’t live up to its end of the bargain, things will be tough, but there was a noticeable fight from the Razorbacks after being embarrassed by Ole Miss two weeks ago. With an overall record of 5-5 and another rivalry trophy to play for, the Razorbacks have a chance to end the regular season on a high note.
