I still don’t understand how Arcane convinced Netflix to implement this three-weekend release schedule for all nine episodes of each season, but they did it this time. If you’re watching you may have forgotten that, but hey, three more will drop tomorrow, and the final three will follow a week later.

I’m not being hyperbolic when I call Arcane the best Netflix show of 2024. Yeah, I suppose that’s subjective to some degree, but if we’re going by actual math here, the show’s second season has a 100% critical score with two dozen reviews in now, and a staggering 96% audience score, comparable with the first season. You simply don’t see any other series with these kinds of numbers, and you can argue that Arcane might be the best Netflix show they’ve ever made. ever made, at least in terms of scores, as it has now achieved these staggering numbers over two seasons. Others may have done it for one person, but this kind of consistency? With so many reviews in? You simply don’t see it.

Arcane only managed to grab the number 1 spot on the top 10 list in the US for one day, but it has performed extremely well worldwide and again, viewership doesn’t matter here as this is the planned final season of the show, ending on a high note. The future is unknown for both the League brand, which has promised more series, and the animation studio that brought this unique look to life, France’s Fortiche, will hopefully be in tow.

Arcane, due to this level of animation quality and the time and work put into it, would be the most expensive animated series of all time. Supposedly it cost $250 million to produce, and that’s even before any Riot marketing of the series. Showrunner Christian Linke said that is not the case rather is true, but that the high costs are justified because they wanted theatrical quality animation. And you could easily argue that it is better in style than most animated films. The show’s length, 18 episodes, is also probably the equivalent of 5-6 animated films in terms of total running time.

These scores could change as more reviews come in, but this could be the best-performing major series in Netflix history in terms of review scores from both critics and fans, even if the viewership isn’t in the top 30 or something. . I can’t wait to watch more tomorrow, and next weekend after that.
