(Beginning of third quarter) Jags kick off at the 50 after an unsportsmanlike penalty was called on Alim McNeill on the half-ending field goal. Lions start from their own twenty as Goff again scrambles five yards on the first down, then Williams tries to shake some defenders but still gains enough for the first down conversion. Montgomery gets the first six yards, then Goff finds Williams on the crosser as he easily sails down the sideline for a 64-yard touchdown. This Detroit offense is firing on all cylinders. (12:55)

Lions offense scores touchdowns on all four drives, Detroit takes a 28-6 halftime lead over rolling Jaguars

After another touchback, the first down play for the Jags is an outside run to Etienne that is stopped by Branch and Anzalone, but Anzalone is down after the play and quickly heads to the locker room grabbing his left arm. Jones throws a short pass to Luke Farrell for three yards on the last play before the two-minute warning. After getting back, Jones finds Davis as four Lions stop him near the first down marker, but Jones sneaks ahead on fourth-and-1 to keep the drive alive. Jags have just one timeout left as Jones finds Thomas in the middle for 24 yards and now Za’Darius Smith is on the field injured. Lions call an injury timeout with 46 seconds left. Luckily, he’s on the sideline while the Jaguars are flagged for a false start. After throwing the ball away on first down, Jones makes two completions for 17 yards and a first down with 17 seconds left. Jags calls the Wildcat for Etienne, but he only gains a yard on first, then Engram makes a 5-yard catch to use their final timeout, while Little hits a 35-yard field goal with a second to go to end the quarter. (End of 1st half)

St. Brown sets franchise record with eighth straight game receiving touchdown, Lions take 28-3 lead

The first down is a Goff pass to Sonic, I mean Gibbs who speeds away down the sideline before Ventrell Miller stops him after a 54-yard reception at the Jacksonville 30. Gibbs gets back-to-back carries for a total of three yards, then St. Brown makes a tight catch before heading untouched into the end zone for a 27-yard touchdown, his eighth straight game with a touchdown, setting a team record. (2:46)

Jaguars look for some momentum as they start on their own 30 as Etienne makes a catch before being tackled for nine yards by Carlton Davis. Etienne then gains three yards for a first down, just the third first down for the Jags so far. Jones overthrew Duvernay on first and then misses Gabe Davis on the next play to get third and tenth. Ford Field gets loud as the Jags take their second timeout to set up a crucial third down play. After the timeout, Lions bring the blitz and Jones misses Thomas for another quick defensive stop. Cooke passes it to Raymond for a fair catch at the Detroit 16. (4:58)

Montgomery dominates, finds the end zone again as Lions take a 21-3 lead

Lions look to score on their third straight possession as the first down play is a St. Brown hook-and-ladder to Williams for 11 yards. The next play is another strong run for Montgomery up the middle for another eleven yards, then Montgomery gains eight more as this offense gets rolling. Montgomery gets the second down carry from five yards to move the chains again. All of these runs make the play-action pass to St. Brown 12 yards, after which Montgomery catches the first down pass for six yards. Goff rolls out on second down and then runs forward five yards to score first and goal at the Jacksonville 6. Montgomery is pushed forward by Penei Sewell for his second rushing TD. Lions have scored touchdowns on all three possessions so far. (6:39)

From their own 30, Etienne first runs down a yard, then the Jags take a quick timeout after realizing they have the wrong personnel for their next play. After the timeout, the Jags are called for a false start on second-and-14, with Jones missing the throw to Engram. They call a screen pass, but Joseph blows it up at a loss of two to force the punt. Raymond catches it and makes a 15-yard return to the Detroit 36. (10:51)

St. Brown and Gibbs make big moves to help Lions extend lead over Jaguars to 14-3 in second quarter

(Start of second quarter) It’s third-and-1 to open the second quarter and Jameson Williams can’t make the catch against Ronald Darby, who hurts his shoulder on the stop. Lions go for it on fourth down as Goff sneaks ahead by three yards. On the next play, Goff finds a wide open Williams for 24 yards, then Gibbs rushes out for another 23 yards as he gets to the Jacksonville 4. Gibbs gains three yards on first and goal, and on second down he turns to the outside and reaches the end zone for the touchdown. Extra point is good and the Lions extend their lead. (12:26)

Lions and Jags score on first drives, Detroit leads 7-3 after a fast first quarter

Lions start at their own 7 as Tim Patrick gets his first catch for four yards, then Gibbs rushes out three yards to make third-and-3. Goff finds his safety valve in St. Brown for five yards and a first down. Goff blows up another screen pass, but again connects with St. Brown for an 18-yard reception and another scoop. Gibbs runs another yard on the next play, but dazzles by running eight yards away from defenders on second down on the final play of the quarter. (End of the first quarter)

After the touchback, it’s the first down as Engram gets a hard, but clean hit from Brian Branch on a 9-yard catch. Kerby Joseph and Anzalone stop Etienne on back-to-back run plays for a quick three-and-out stop from this Lions defense. It’s a booming punt with long hangtime from Logan Cooke, and Daniel Thomas scores a clean strike on Kalif Raymond to prevent any return. (2:53)

The Lions offense responds quickly, Montgomery’s two-yard touchdown gives Lions a 7-3 lead

Little sure has a leg, as his kickoff goes to the back of the end zone for a touchback. With first and 10 for the Lions at their own 30, Goff rolls out and finds Shane Zylstra for his first catch of the season, a 22-yard reception. Goff finds Amon-Ra St. Brown on the outside for six yards on first down, then David Montgomery fights on an outside run for five yards and another first down. Montgomery first runs about nine yards up the middle and then catches a quick five-yard pass to move the chains. Now Arik Armstead is called for offside at the Jacksonville 24 to take first and fifth, where Goff is chased by Travon Walker and throws him away. On second down, St. Brown makes the catch for 11 yards to set up first and goal, where Montgomery runs ahead to the 2-yard line. Montgomery finishes the job with an easy two-yard touchdown, and Bates makes the extra point on a very productive first drive for this Lions offense. (4:59)

Lions defense pins Jags down, but a 59-yard field goal gives Jacksonville an early 3-0 lead

(Start of first quarter) It’s first and ten and Brian Thomas takes the carry for four yards. Travis Etienne gets his first carry for five yards, first down, then it’s another short pass to Brenton Strange, who gets six yards and moves the chains. The Jags offense is coming along easily so far, as a first screen pass to Thomas gains two yards. On second-and-8, D’Ernest Johnson runs into the returning Malcolm Rodriguez for no gain, then Jones scrambles forward five yards on third. Doug Peterson brings out Cam Little for a 59-yard field goal and it’s good for the Jags to take an early lead. (9:36)

Kick-off

The Lions quickly return home for Week 11 to take on the Jaguars. Detroit wears their all-blue uniforms, while Jacksonville wears their white uniforms with black pants. Lions won the toss and will kick off to start the game with Jake Bates kicking off to Devin Duvernay to take it back to their own 31.

Example

Off to the franchise’s best start through nine games since 1954, the Lions return to Ford Field on Sunday against the Jaguars.

Detroit is in the middle of a three-game stretch against AFC South teams, winning the division 2-0 after defeating the Texans in a 26-23 comeback win last Sunday. That win came thanks to two Jake Bates field goals, and despite Jared Goff’s five interceptions.

Trade acquisition Za’Darius Smith will make his debut for the Lions after being a healthy scratch last week, and the team is hopeful that tackle Taylor Decker can make his return to the offensive line after missing last week’s game. Tight end Sam LaPorta has been ruled out after suffering a shoulder injury against the Texans.

Jacksonville is tied for the worst record in the NFL, and starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be sidelined with a shoulder injury. Big receivers like DK Metcalf and Justin Jefferson have given the Lions problems this year, so keep an eye on Jaguars rookie Brian Thomas, who has 607 yards and five touchdowns on 37 receptions.
