Bengals bye week head coach Zac Taylor NFL Week 12 coaching changes

LOS ANGELES – Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has no plans to make any significant changes despite his team falling to 4-7 with the bye week on deck.

After the sixth one-score loss the Bengals have suffered this season, Taylor reiterated his belief in the systems he and his staff have put in place. After a slow start on both sides of the ball in the first half of the Bengals’ Week 11 loss to the Chargers, the Bengals were able to claw their way back into the game. Cincinnati had two chances to take the lead in the closing minutes, but failed and ultimately lost 34-27.

“I think we’re all watching the game and we can see that it comes down to one play in each game,” Taylor said after the game. “So why make a big change? That’s just panic to me. That’s not what we’re about. We believe in what we do. And so again, we’re not going to be those people who are just freaking out because the record is 4-7 and we’re starting to make all these major changes. That is not the answer.”

The Bengals enter their bye week looking for answers on how to finish games. Taylor believes the Bengals can still make the playoffs with six regular-season games remaining on the schedule. Quarterback Joe Burrow was asked after the game if he shares the same beliefs as his coach.

“I hope so,” Burrow said. “I guess we’ll find out. We are where we are. I’m not happy with where we are now, I don’t think anyone is.”

Burrow said this is the most frustrating season of his career. Cincinnati’s inability to finish games this year has left the locker room wondering why they can’t take care of business when they need to.

Wide receiver Tee Higgins also couldn’t put his finger on why the Bengals haven’t finished games this year.

“I don’t know what it is… we just have to get it over with,” Higgins said. “That’s the word for this week, finish the (expletive) game.”
