President-elect Trump announced Tuesday that he will appoint Dr. Mehmet Oz will nominate as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in January.

“America is facing a healthcare crisis, and there is perhaps no physician more qualified and capable than Dr. Oz to make America whole again,” Trump said in a statement. “He is a leading physician, heart surgeon, inventor and world-class communicator who has been at the forefront of healthy living for decades.”

“Dr. Oz will work closely with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to tackle the disease-industrial complex, and all the terrible chronic diseases left in its wake,” the statement said. “Our broken health care system is harming everyday Americans and crushing our nation’s budget.”
