Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball has apologized for the anti-gay comment he made in a post-game interview last weekend, insisting he “didn’t mean anything” by the comment. The 23-year-old was fined $100,000 after he was asked about the final play of a nail-biting Saturday match and replied: “We loaded, no h—.” However, Ball emphasized to reporters on Sunday that he did not intend to be offensive. “I really didn’t mean anything by it and don’t want to offend anyone. I have love for everyone and I don’t discriminate,” he said. Charles Lee, the Hornets’ new head coach, told reporters he had spoken to Ball and insisted the language was out of character for him. “From what I’ve seen since I’ve been with him, he loves everyone. He is a pleasure to have at the facility and (he says) is not typical of his way of working,” Lee said. “He and I talked about the seriousness of the situation and how he should behave in the future.”
