It’s almost time for the Disney Treasure to make her maiden voyage!

The Disney Treasure is the sixth and newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. It will make its maiden voyage on December 21, about a month from now. We are so excited to explore this brand new ship, and today we got a unique look at the Treasure as it sailed into a new port.

The Disney Treasure has made her way from her original home at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Since leaving the shipyard in mid-September, the ship made a stop in Eemshaven, Netherlands, where Disney took ownership of the Treasure in late October.

It has since made a stop at its future home port of Port Canaveral, Florida. The Disney Treasure only hung around for a while and is currently docked at the Port Authorities of New York and New Jersey.

The Disney Treasure will be in New York for the next few days as the ship is christened later tonight! The naming ceremony of a ship is a maritime tradition that wishes the ship’s crew and guests good luck and safe sailing.

Like the other Disney Cruise Line ships, the Disney Treasure has a godparent, or should we say godparents? Unlike the first four ships, which only have one person as the ship’s godparent, the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure have multiple. The godparents of the Disney Wish are all children of Make-A-Wish, while the godparents of the Disney Treasure are Disney Cast Members!
