The New York fire Department (FDNY) confirmed it was responding to a two-alarm fire at 251 Broome Street on Wednesday. Several social media users, including local residents and online reporters, posted videos of the fire to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter . Authorities have not revealed what caused the fire.

“The FDNY is currently responding to the scene of a two-alarm fire at 251 Broome Street Manhattanthe department tweeted.

One person alerted other locals and posted a photo of the fire on social media. “There is currently a major fire in downtown Manhattan,” they tweeted.

“Large flames coming from a roof of the Soho building in Manhattan, fire has now been raised to second alarm,” another added.

This comes after another fire destroyed a high-end SoHo building. The fire broke out with three alarms just before 6 a.m. local time. Several firefighters and other emergency services were on site.

The five-story residential building dates back to 1867, according to reports, and was on fire. It is not yet known what caused the fire and whether there were any injuries.

On Tuesday, a wildfire broke out in an upper Manhattan park, scorching about 40 acres. According to the FDNY, the fire broke out in Highbridge Park near 155th St. and Harlem River Drive around 2:23 p.m.
