Bad– Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande’s film adaptation of the classic Broadway musical – is new in theaters. Is there a scene during the credits or post-credits that will keep you in your seat?

Directed by Jon M. Chu, Bad is the first part of a two-film adaptation of the historic Broadway production that premiered in 2003. Bad plays in previews Thursday before opening in theaters nationwide Friday Bad: Part Two hits theaters on November 21, 2025.

Erivo and Grande play Elphaba and Glinda respectively, with the roles coming from Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth on Broadway. The official logline for the musical film version of Bad reads: “Elphaba, a misunderstood young woman because of her green skin, and Glinda, a popular girl, become friends at Shiz University in the Land of Oz. After meeting the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads.”

Wicked also stars Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero and Michelle Yeoh as Shiz director Madame Morrible.

Do the end credits of ‘Wicked’ tell us anything?

End credits or post-credit scenes typically tie up loose ends for a scene earlier in a film or set up a transition scene to tease a possible sequel.

Since Bad: Part Two has been in production for a long time, there is no point Bad studio, Universal Pictures, hinting at the possibility of a sequel as the sequel is already in the works.

As such there is no scene that takes place during or after the credits of Bad. After the final scene before the end credits of the film, the Bad title treatment appears on the screen and the phrase ‘To be continued’ appears below it.

Director Jon M. Chu clearly knew that part one Bad had to end on a strong note and that’s why he uses the showstopper song of the production Defying gravity in the film’s final climactic scene to achieve that goal.

Otherwise, if Chu had inserted an opening credits scene and/or an end credits scene, it would have paled in comparison and the sheer power of the performance of Defying gravity.

Not just the performance of Bad signature song by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande is electrifying – it’s made even more so by the dazzling visual effects that help drive the scene.

When all is said and done, the final gravity-defying scene of Bad makes for the perfect cliffhanger tease Wicked: Part Two—and there’s nothing an end credits or post-credits scene could have done to improve this.
