The ‘Pretty Woman’ actor recently sold his Connecticut home for $11 million after revealing his plans to settle in Madrid with his family

Richard Gere is getting ready for his big move to Spain!

During a performance on November 20 at the Today show, the Beautiful woman actor, 75, opened up about the new journey he is embarking on with his family in Madrid while discussing his upcoming series The Agency.

“You and your wife and your little ones are moving to Spain!” host Savannah Guthrie said to the actor. Gere shares sons Alexander, 5, and James, 4, with wife Alejandra Silva, 41.

He replied, “My wife is Spanish, and we go there for her family, her friends, her culture. The kids are bilingual, so it will be really great for them.”

“Then hopefully you’ll become bilingual…” Guthrie teased.

Gere joked and said, “Perfect! If you come to Spain we will do the whole show in Spanish,” to which Guthrie replied, “Challenge accepted!”

The actor’s excitement about his family’s new chapter comes after he officially sold their $11 million New Canaan, Conn., home in October.

Gere lived in the six-bedroom, 11-bathroom home with his wife and children for two years after purchasing it for $10.8 million in 2022, according to local newspaper New Canaan Advertiser. At one point, after purchasing property, Gere wanted to turn the property into a farm.

Along with his younger children, Gere is father to son Homer, 24, from his second marriage to Carey Lowell. Silva also has an 11-year-old son, Albert, with ex-husband Govind Friedland.

During an interview with Vanity Fair Spain in April, Gere hinted at his plans to move to his wife’s home country so she can be close to her relatives there.

“For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends and her culture,” he said. “She was very generous in letting me live in my world for six years, so it’s only fair that I give her at least another six years in hers.”

He continued: ‘I love Spain and I think your lifestyle is fantastic. Also your ability to live and convey joy and happiness. It is a beautiful place, the food is extraordinary and the people radiate sensitivity and generosity, as well as a strong will to laugh and enjoy.”

While Gere told it VF Spain that he was ready for his upcoming “big adventure,” having never lived outside the United States full-time before.

Gere and Silva have lived in the US since tying the knot in 2018. They first met in Positano, Italy, in 2014.

The Agency streaming November 29 on Paramount+/Showtime. Today airs weekdays on NBC (starting at 7:00 p.m. ET).
