West Seattle Blog… | POWER, WEATHER, SCHOOLS, TRAFFIC: Wednesday morning updates

6:01 am: It’s Wednesday, November 20, and thousands are still without power after last night’s storm (here’s our coverage from Tuesday evening).

POWER UPDATES (updated 9:10 am)

The major outage in Northwest Seattle was resolved less than an hour ago – from Admiral to Alki and beyond – and the major outage in East West Seattle (Riverview south to the city limits and beyond) has been reduced.

City light‘s outage map seems to be functioning in real time again after last night’s outages. (Let us know via comments or text – 206-293-6302 – if you get your electricity back, as SCL does not keep a public register of this; the utility says tens of thousands have been returned to its service area.) Remember, if you encounter a traffic light that is dark or flashing, it is a stop sign. (16th/Holden is one of them) … Some areas of power outages in northern WS are NOT shown on the map, we are told, such as 51st/Orleans. … 9:10 am, text says they just got power back in Highland Park/Riverview … 10:20 am, commenters say power is back in the Westwood area.

WEATHER + SUNRISE/SUNSET TIMES

Cloudy with showers, breezy but not windy, highs in the low 50s. Today’s sunrise is at 7:23 a.m., while sunset is at 4:27 p.m.

SCHOOLS (updated at 6:46 am)

– Sanislo Elementary closed (district says this is the only WS school closing today)

-No school today at Community School of West Seattle, by text

-YMCA Early Learning in Westwood is closed per commenter

Spokane Street Viaduct – This view is looking mostly west, with eastbound lanes on the left and westbound lanes on the right:

Low bridge – Looking west:

1st Avenue South Bridge:

Delridge cameras: In addition to the ones below (Delridge/Genesee), there are also cameras in Delridge/Juneau, Delridge/Henderson, Delridge/Oregon and video only (so you have to go to the map), Delridge/Holden and Delridge/Thistle.

MORE TRAFFIC CAMS: All functioning traffic cameras in the entire city are here; West Seattle and area-relevant cameras are listed on this WSB page.

If you see a problem on the bridges/streets/paths/water, text or call our hotline (when you can do so safely and after reporting to authorities if they are not already on site) – 206-293-6302. Thank you!
