Los Rojinegros failed to win any of their last six regular season matches against Apertura, winning five draws and suffering a heavy 4–0 defeat to Monterrey. In fact, they have recorded just one win in their last ten matches: a 3-2 victory over Guadalajara at the Estadio Akron. Notable lows of the campaign include a 3-0 defeat to América and a 4-1 loss to Toluca.

Guadalajara’s season also went anything but smoothly. Despite a late surge that saw the club win three of its last six games, the struggle against play-off opponents has been eye-catching. In addition to a defeat against Atlas, they lost 1-0 in the Súperclásico against América and the regular competition ended with a defeat against San Luís.

The most recent encounter may have gone in Atlas’ favor, but it doesn’t reflect the long history of this rivalry. In the six previous meetings, Atlas managed just one win compared to Guadalajara’s three victories. However, the Atlas side are determined to secure back-to-back wins at the Estadio Akron for the first time since 2022.
