Mike Schur’s new comedy, A Man on the Inside, is looking for season 2.

Like Schur’s other comedies, The Office, Parks and Rec, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Good Place, A Man on the Inside is primed for a multi-season run on Netflix, as he and Ted Danson reiterated now that Season 1 has been released. broadcast. And there is promising news on that front.

If you’ve seen the series, the show is clearly primed for more spy adventures with Charles towards the end, and here’s what the duo behind the show says about it to Deadline:

Schur: “We are in a bit of a bind, we will bridge that bridge when we get there, some kind of deal. But I will say that there is no shortage of ideas from me and other writers about what we could do in a future season. Fingers crossed, we’ll see.”

The good news is that A Man on the Inside is currently performing on all three “Holy Trinity” metrics of the Netflix show renewal:

• It is carefully examined: The series immediately debuted at No. 1 and seems poised to stay there for a while. We’ll have numbers in about a week, but it’s rare for a brand new series to literally come first. That’s a great sign.
• It’s extremely good: Netflix usually won’t renew series based on pure quality, but yes, it certainly helps that A Man on the Inside has been extremely positively received by critics (a score of 95%) and audiences (a score of 96%). Netflix wants a stable of good shows.
• It’s cheap: I mean, I don’t know how much Schur, Danson and the rest of the cast get paid, but in terms of the concept of the series, this series was set almost exclusively in a nursing home and half-hour comedies like this one in are about it generally very cheap to produce compared to other shows. The fourth metric that we can’t really quantify here is how many people complete the series, which is a big indicator of whether a second season will be worth a renewal. All I have here is anecdotal evidence, but I read it in two sittings and I have a few friends who did the same. It’s very easy to binge all the way through with short episodes and the enduring mystery of the case at hand driving you forward.

This is a no brainer. A Man on the Inside is getting a season 2. I don’t know how long it will be until it’s announced, but there’s no doubt about it based on what we’re seeing here.
