Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti defended the strength of his team’s schedule in going after Alabama.

Cignetti and the Hoosiers are undefeated ahead of a matchup with Ohio State. They are in the College Football Playoff picture but have picked up some slack due to their high-powered schedule.

Indiana’s head coach recently fired back at these claims.

“The schedules are set years in advance,” Cignetti said. “Alabama played Mercer. Georgia played Chattanooga. Right? The schedule is what it is. We beat seven Power Four teams. Each of these teams had a winning record when we played them, except two were at .500. We beat the defending champions in Michigan and the runners-up. We defeated all our opponents decisively, except Michigan, when we didn’t play well in the second half. Until two weeks ago we didn’t even go out. We trailed Michigan State 10-0 in the first quarter and scored 47 in a row.”

Alabama will take on Oklahoma on Saturday as the No. 7 ranked team in the current College Football Playoff rankings.
