Unfortunately for San Francisco, Purdy’s silence has spoken volumes. Midway through his third season, Purdy will miss the first game of his career due to injury.

In addition to Purdy, defenseman Nick Bosa is one of the 49ers who will also be out against Green Bay.

In ten games this year, Purdy has completed 66% of his passes for 2,613 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Purdy is replaced under center by Allen. Sunday marks Allen’s first start since Week 18 of the 2021 season for the Cincinnati Bengals. In his career, Allen has made just nine career starts.

“I think Brandon is a really good pitcher, runs our offense well and has done a really good job since he’s been here,” Shanahan said. “I’ve been here for two years now and the boys believe in him and think he will give us a good chance to win.”
