Ipswich Town 1-1 Manchester United: Premier League – as it happened | Premier League

Important events

That’s all from me, with David Hytner’s report in it. Thank you for your participation!

Ruben Amorim drops by to talk to the Sky expertsincluding Roy Keane. He is a very clear, direct talker. “It’s a tough competition.

“I think my players were thinking too much during the match. You can feel it.

“It’s a tough match. We lost a number of balls without pressure and when you start a match like this you score one goal, you have to control the ball, you have to determine the tempo of the match. We can’t do it right now.

“But they tried, they really, really tried. They want this.”

Oh, and Ed Sheeran interrupts the conversation to befriend Jamie Redknapp. Just a normal day at the Barclays.

Part

It wasn’t the most memorable matchUnited’s liveliest moment was saved for the second minute. Amorim calls his players together and has them applaud the visiting supporters. Ipswich could very well have achieved victory but were denied by some excellent saves from André Onana.

FULL TIME: Ipswich 1-1 Manchester United

Not the dream start for Ruben Amorim, but not a disaster either.

90+4 minutes: Muric holds on to Fernandes’ delivery. That should be that.

Part

90+3 minutes: Amad comes to life on the right, drives into the box, launches his stepovers before cutting in for a shot that is blocked. United win a corner.

Part

90+1 min: Four minutes have been added. Clarke hooks the ball from the center circle to the right wing, but sends it out, unable to cope with the pressure of the onrushing Mazraoui.

Part

90 minutes: Hutchinson’s cross from the right does little damage.

Part

88 minutes: The home help bursts into noise and realizes that one last push is needed.

Part

87 minutes: The free-kick is played short and eventually sees the substitutions work together, with Clarke finding Chaplin in the area, his shot from about 10 yards not finding the power or precision to trouble Onana.

Part

86 minutes: Clarke is bundled into midfield to win a free-kick from about 30 yards. Mason Mount is on for Garnacho.

Part

85 minutes: It doesn’t really click for either party, real opportunities are rare. Garnacho’s cross from the left does not find Højlund.

81 minutes: Liam Delap left after a very lively display, as did Wes Burns. Conor Chaplin and Ali Al-Hamadi are present.

Part

80 minutes: Mazraoui lies on the ground and causes a pause in the game.

Part

79 minutes: Fernandes lines him up, Amad next to him. The captain lets go and is inches away… an effort just wide of the post as Muric moved to the right.

Part

78 minutes: Fernandes wins United a free kick from the D, creating a decent chance…

Part

77 minutes: United work patiently before Zirkzee, outside the area, on the right, launches a shot into Ipswich town centre.

Part

75 minutes: Muric clears the back after Zirkzee wins the ball from Davis on United’s right. The goalkeeper’s ball meets the body of the linesman, who handles the blow gracefully.

Part

73 minutes: Fernandes finds Garnacho on the left, the winger who launches the stepovers before firing in a cross… there’s no red shirt on it.

Part

71 minutes: Delap again somehow manages to free up space in the middle with a neat move and sets off before launching a goal over the bar. He’s a good watch, tough to work with with obvious talent.

Part

Part

62 minutes: It’s all a bit quiet again after the more enticing action in the first minutes of the half. United are struggling to break into Ipswich’s half and keep the ball there.

Part

59 minutes: Amad works hard from a defensive point of view and follows a run into the United field to eliminate the long ball. It’s a good shift, as a full-back.

Part

57 minutes: Shaw is the left-sided centre-back, while Dalot remains the left-sided full-back.

Part

56 minutes: Time for a few adjustments. Luke Shaw returns after a long break, replacing Jonny Evans. Casemiro leaves for Ugarte.

Part

Part

52 minutes: Excellent from Delap who beats off the pressure in the center circle to turn and push forward before finding Burns on the right. A cross comes in, Delap tries a return kick to the near post, but it looks like he can’t beat Onana tonight. United’s goalkeeper is big again, unbeatable and saves his team again.

Part

50 minutes: Casemiro and Eriksen don’t argue for the ball when United’s backline has the ball; it’s hard to see the visitors breaking Ipswich’s form at the moment.

Part

48 minutes: Ipswich get their passing game going as the crowd rediscovers its voice.

Part

46 minutes: Casemiro plays a lovely diagonal ball for Dalot to pick up before Fernandes Garnacho slides inside the area… his ball from the left is pushed away by Muric. United start brightly.

Part

Peeeeep again!

United get us going in the second half, with no changes at half time.

Part

45 minutes: The VAR is back and three minutes have been added.

GOAL! Ipswich 1-1 Manchester United (Hutchinson 43)

Ipswich is threatening… and here comes a banger! Burns passes to Hutchinson outside the area, the 21-year-old is back on target. He turns and lets his left foot fly as he curls into the top left corner from twenty yards. It is well deserved for the hosts.
