Windy and cold Monday in the store

As we transition from a warm weekend to a grimly colder week, Oklahoma is bracing for gusty winds and a drop in temperatures that will have you reaching for your winter gear.

Temperatures will reach around 45°F for Thanksgiving, with morning lows dropping into the 20s.

Here’s what to expect as November ends and December begins.

What’s the weather like on Monday in Oklahoma?

The week starts with howling wind and biting cold. Temperatures will hover around 40 degrees today, but with winds of 20-30 MPH and gusts up to 35-37 MPH in some areas, the wind chill made it feel like a brisk 32°F. When you’re outside for a long time, you might feel more like a popsicle than a pedestrian!

What’s the weather like in Oklahoma this week?

Temperatures will drop into the upper 20s tonight through Tuesday morning, marking Oklahoma City’s first freeze of the season. The wind will continue to make outdoor activities lively, so wearing layers will be key. Daytime highs will continue to linger in the mid-40s as another cold front intensifies the chill Wednesday evening.

As the colder air deepens, there is a slight chance of precipitation through mid-week. A mix of light rain and possible snow showers could occur late Wednesday into early Thursday, but don’t expect much accumulation. The data shows that there are only traces of it – just enough to remind us that winter is just around the corner.

Thanksgiving:

We expect cold, but not frigid, weather for Thanksgiving.

A second cold front Wednesday evening could bring scattered showers, with a 30% chance of rain overnight.

Highs on Thanksgiving Day won’t reach the mid-40s until sunshine is expected by the afternoon.

It’s still early, so keep an eye on the weather forecast as we get closer to Turkey Day.

Black Friday:

Black Friday will be sunny but cold, with temperatures staying around 40 degrees.

Shoppers will have to brave the early morning chill before daytime highs reach a modest 46°F.

Weekend weather:

As the weekend approaches, a new front will bring another wave of cold air, with highs possibly dropping to 39°F by Sunday.
