    Why is Simone Biles joining ‘The Voice’?

    Simone Biles is joining ‘The Voice’ as a playoff consultant and some fans are stunned by the surprising choice.

    On Thursday, NBC announced that the Olympic gold medalist, who is the most decorated gymnast in history, would appear as a consultant for Team Snoop on the network’s premier singing competition after rap legend Snoop Dogg recruited her for the position.

    Biles, known as the GOAT, is fresh off a groundbreaking run at her third Olympic Games in Paris, where she won four medals: three team golds, all-around and vault events and a silver on floor.

    Biles’ “The Voice” episode premieres Monday at 7 p.m. central time. In a recent interview, Biles told the Associated Press that she and Snoop Dogg were a duo that deserved a gold medal.

    “We were able to challenge each other and give the artists the best insight for the next round,” Biles said in an interview with the AP. “It was quite simple, simple. We’re both very gentle. But if we need to bring out that energy, we can. For us it was about building confidence for the week ahead.”

    But some fans were “baffled” by the decision to have Biles, while others on IG defended the GOAT.

    The decision was panned and praised by several users in the comments section of the official Biles announcement.

    One user wrote: “She’s great but not offensive but she’s not a singer and can’t help them in the way they need.”

    Another threw shade at Biles and Snoop Dogg, saying that “I actually feel sorry for the contestants on this team… they get zero credible musical advice from an experienced musician like the other teams.”

    “I love her,” one person said, but continued, writing, “I’m baffled.”

    Others sided with Biles, with one Instagram user writing, “I was expecting someone in the music industry, but she can give really good advice on being ready for the stage, etc. I’m intrigued to see how it goes.”

    “This makes perfect sense when you realize that these people can already SING and what they need is training in stage presence, self-confidence and performance, which she is an expert in,” one commenter said in defense of Biles.

    Even Season 23 finalist Noivas Wright defended the Olympic champion prior to “The Voice” performance.

    “People don’t realize that Simone can give really great advice on performance, routine, stage presence and self-confidence. It’s not just about ‘the voice’. They can already sing, they don’t need advice on that… trust me, I would know , as a performer from the show,” Wright wrote.
