Morgan Vrijman gets busy with life.

The 87-year-old stepped out in Los Angeles on November 24 for a rare night out with friends, enjoying dinner at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica.

For the occasion, the Shawshank redemption star kept it low key: he wore a flannel button-up shirt, a black baseball hat, and black pants. He also wore a beige compression glove on his left hand, an accessory he has worn regularly since a 2012 car accident left him with nerve damage.

Shortly after the accident, Morgan called the injury – which left his left arm virtually useless – “excruciating,” but he has also maintained a positive outlook on the life-changing condition.

“It makes sense to make these kinds of changes,” he said Esquire in 2012, lamenting the loss of some of his favorite hobbies, including sailing and flying planes. “I have to move on to other things, with different views about myself. I play golf. I’m still working.”
