Dozens of pediatric patients from Hawaii, families among the first in the world to see ‘Moana 2’

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Dozens of pediatric patients and their families in Hawaii were among the first in the world to see “Moana 2” before it hit theaters Wednesday.

Patients at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children were treated to a special screening of “Moana 2” this week, hosted by Disney and the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

“Disney has been a supporter of children’s hospitals for decades, dating back to the days of Walt Disney, and I have worked very hard to maintain that legacy,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger. “With the opening of ‘Moana 2’ next week, we have had the opportunity to bring an amazing film to the people of this hospital – patients and staff alike.”

As part of the event, patients were able to play games and receive gifts.

Starlight Children’s Foundation also partnered with Disney to create new “Moana” themed hospital gowns for the hospital.

Rene Jong, mother of one of the patients, said the children were excited about the opportunity.

“It’s such an honor to be the first to see ‘Moana 2,’ and it’s so exciting,” Jong said.

“She (Moana) is definitely a role model for Pacific Islanders, and even more so (the film) shows growing up and how much they can achieve and just be who they are and not worry about what other people think. ”
