Best Duke basketball photos from Tuesday’s game against Kansas

The Duke Blue Devils came back from an early hole against the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks on Tuesday night, but freshman superstar Cooper Flagg and his teammates couldn’t close the deal due to a game-changing upset.

Kansas scored 16 of the game’s first 19 points after making six of its first seven shots from the floor, burying three 3-pointers in the first 4:11 of play.

Despite Flagg only scoring two points in the first half thanks to some consistent double teams, the Blue Devils put together a 16-4 run late in the first half to tie the game. Tyrese Proctor made five of his first six triples, and veteran forward Maliq Brown consistently knocked the ball away in a game he finished with four steals.

However, five-star freshman Kon Knueppel couldn’t find a hole in the Kansas defense for a crucial turnover in the final five seconds, allowing the Jayhawks to build a three-point lead. When Knueppel’s last-gasp dive off the rim, his eighth miss on eight three-point attempts, the Blue Devils walked away with a second count in the loss column.
