The Boilermakers fought hard and held the lead midway through the first two sets until late pushups from the Nittany Lions eliminated Purdue. In total, there were 32 ties and 12 lead changes throughout the match, an improvement from the 2 ties and one lead change that opened the Big Ten season at Holloway Gymnasium.
