Knocked Loose make their awesomely heavy late-night debut with Poppy on ‘Kimmel’: watch

The metallic hardcore insurgents Knocked Loose from Louisville lead a truly insane existence. Knocked Loose have been a big band in the heavy music world since pre-pandemic days, and they’re going from strength to strength even as their music becomes more and more intense and abrasive. They are currently nominated for a Grammy for the first time, and will headline Manchester’s Outbreak Fest next year. Last night they made their television debut, and they made that shit count.

Knocked Loose was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. That alone is crazy. The band made it even crazier. They played outside, on the show’s festival stage, meaning people were allowed to mosh to them. They played in the pouring rain. They played with braziers that went off at all the big moments. They weren’t just a hardcore band on TV; they were a hardcore band that got the chance to actually represent themselves on TV.

On the right Kimmel show, metal-adjacent internet cult star Poppy joined Knocked Loose onstage, and they blasted through their bruising, noxious, Grammy-nominated collab “Suffocate.” As the rain came down and the fire shot up, it looked and sounded incredibly dramatic. Check that out below.

While they were doing that Kimmel on the festival stage, Knocked Loose played a five-song, 16-minute set, and people stayed with them through the rain. The Kimmel people recorded it, but the full video isn’t available yet. However, there were people in the crowd to document it, so you can check out fan footage of the whole thing below.

The Knock Loose album You don’t go earlier than intended is now available from Pure Noise.
