Owasso outlasts Jenks in triple overtime: Live updates, Oklahoma 6AI semifinal score

Owasso is coming off a fantastic season, beating some of the best 6AI teams in Oklahoma.

Now the Rams are one win away from completing an extraordinary season. On Friday afternoon, Owasso needed triple overtime to defeat Jenks 30-27 in the 6AI semifinals on Friday afternoon in Claremore.

TRIPLE OVERTIME

– TOUCHDOWN OWASSO. Rams get the ball to the 1 on their first play; On the next play, Jayden Hall goes to the middle and Owasso survives Jenks in triple overtime (Owasso, 30-27 | F/3OT)

FIELD GOAL JENKS. Noah Carter kicks a 30-yard field goal and the Trojans take the lead. Owasso now has the ball and needs a TD to win (Jenks, 27-24 | 3OT)

– Jenks has the ball to start the third overtime session.

DOUBLE OVERTIME

FIELD GOAL JENKS. Jenks gets the 20-yard field goal from Noah Carter, and we go triple OT (24-24 | 3OT)

– Incomplete pass on third down. Jenks goes for the field goal to force triple overtime.

– Jenks gets a 5-yard gain on his first play in double overtime. On second down, Trojans get a yard. Third and goal now from the Owasso 4.

FIELD GOAL OWASSO. Owasso opts to go for the field goal and the Rams get it, with Noah Hill connecting from 19 yards out. Jenks, with a TD, can win it here (Owasso, 24-21 | 2OT)

– Owasso will go for fourth. Ball is at the 3.

– Owasso gets the ball first. Rams figure it out, but they get it back.

OVERTIME

TOUCHDOWN OWASSO. Rams need just one play to answer as Jayson Moll takes a 30-foot beam run to the house. Owasso then goes to the PAT, and we go to double overtime (21-21 | 2OT)

TOUCHDOWN JENKS. Jenks faces a third down from the 4. QB Owen Jones then takes a keeper into the end zone for the TD. Trojans then add the PAT for the seven-point lead. Owasso now has the ball (Jenks, 21-14 | OT)

– Jenks will be on the attack to start the overtime session.

– Jenks is out of time and we’re now headed to overtime, with a trip to the 6AI title game on the line.

FOURTH QUARTER

– Owasso decides to kick the ball away. It looks like we’re headed to overtime with 19 seconds left.

Owasso is faced with a fourth-and-5 just past midfield in the final minute of regulation. The timeout is on the field.

Owasso gets another first in midfield.

– Owasso converts on a pass play after a third down. Rams almost have the ball at 40 with less than two minutes to go.

– Owasso gets some breathing room, takes a first inside the 30 as the clock goes under three minutes.

– Owasso holds on and forces Jenks to punt back to the Rams. But Owasso takes over in his own 10, with less than five minutes to go.

– Jenks forces Owasso to kick. With more than six minutes to go, the Trojans take over the midfield.

TOUCHDOWN JENKS. Trojans answer on the ensuing series, as QB Owen Jones connects with Semaj Stanford for a 45-yard touchdown. Jenks adds the PAT and we’re tied again, heading for the barbed wire in Claremore (14-14 | 8:33, 4th)

TOUCHDOWN OWASSO. Rams face another fourth and goal from the 1, and once again, they punch it in for the TD, with Jayson Moll going for the go-ahead shot as the Rams complete a 17-play, 72-yard march. Rams tacks on the PAT (Owasso, 14-7 | 10:47, 4th)

-Through three quarters, Owasso has 226 total yards of offense, while Jenks has 144 total yards.

– Quick third quarter ends with game still tied. But Owasso is in the Jenks 10 and facing a second goal.

THIRD QUARTER

– Owasso runs a successful passing play on fourth-and-long, and the Rams have a first-and-goal at the Jenks 5.

– Owasso on the march, and the Rams have the ball near the Jenks 30 after the Trojans were flagged for a late goal.

– Jenks has to punt on the first series of the second half and Owasso takes over near his 30 with 7:38 left in the third.

– Jenks takes the ball to start the second half.

HALF TIME

– At the half, Jenks and Owasso are square at 7-all. The Rams scored in the final seconds of the half, turning a red zone interception into the eventual tying goal.

SECOND QUARTER

TOUCHDOWN OWASSO. Owasso gets the score on fourth and goal from the 1 with a successful running play by Jayden Hall. But the Rams were called a personal foul after the touchdown, which backed them up for the PAT. However, Noah Hill still pulls it off and we’re stuck in Claremore. Owasso threw 12 plays – all runs – for 80 yards. (7-7 | :05, 2nd)

– Owasso stopped short of the goal line on third down. Rams are in fourth place at the Jenks 1 with eight seconds left until halftime.

– Owasso had the ball at the Jenks 1 but goes backwards. Rams face a third goal from the Jenks 2 with less than a minute left in the half.

– Owasso starts pushing. Rams advanced the ball into Jenks territory and will have a first down at the Trojans’ 17 on a personal foul penalty.

– Jenks gets another golden opportunity after recovering a fumble on the ensuing kickoff. But Owasso’s Jaylon Moll comes up with a takeaway of his own, intercepting a pass in the end zone to stop the potential Trojan threat.

TOUCHDOWN JENKS. Trojan QB Owen Jones connects with Sam Stone from 22 yards out, and the Trojans break the scoreless deadlock, going 70 yards in eight plays. They also add the PAT for the seven-point lead (Jenks, 7-0 | 4:42, 2nd)

– Jenks goes for it on fourth down at the Owasso 32. A pass goes incomplete, but there is a flag on the field. Owasso called for pass interference, giving Jenks an automatic first down.

– Jenks gets the ball back and has a chance to break through as the Trojans have the ball at the Owasso 35 midway through the second.

– Total yards in the first quarter: Owasso had 77 and Jenks had 61.

– Owasso holds third and forces Jenks to kick.

– The second quarter starts with Jenks facing a third down in midfield.

FIRST QUARTER

-Still scoreless late in the first inning. Both teams kicked the ball away to each other.

– We’re halfway through the first quarter and the game is scoreless. Owasso just kicked the ball to Jenks.

PREDICT

Owasso will take on Jenks in the 6AI semi-finals on Friday afternoon in Claremore.

ABOUT OWASSO (11-0)

Owasso started the season with back-to-back wins against defending 6AI champion Bixby and Jenks. The Rams also defeated Sand Springs – which plays in the 6AII semifinals – and posted district victories against Broken Arrow, Tulsa Union and Edmond Memorial, with the latter competing in the other 6AI semifinal against Bixby. Last week, Owasso – which drew a playoff in the opening round – defeated Edmond Deer Creek 40-26 in the 6AI quarterfinals.

ABOUT JENKS (8-3)

Jenks is currently on a seven-game winning streak after starting the season 1-3. The Trojans lost to Owasso 42-24 in the regular season. But this postseason, Jenks already avenged one of his regular-season losses by beating Tulsa Union 42-7 in last week’s 6AI quarterfinals after falling 9-3 to the Redhawks in September.
