Georgia showed life in the third quarter, scoring a touchdown and stopping Georgia Tech for the first time. But a questionable decision to go for two seemed to stifle the momentum, and as the fourth quarter begins, Georgia Tech is back within the 10, looking for a 17-6 lead.

Kirby Smart opted to go for a two-point conversion on a Carson Beck touchdown pass. There was probably a mathematical reason for doing this, as Smart is very analytical. But there was also 9:53 left in the third quarter, and Georgia finally had momentum. The conversion attempt, a pass to the left, was easily stopped. And then Georgia Tech held the ball for the rest of the quarter, with a number of third downs, as Georgia’s defense looked outmatched once again.
