Costco is recalling Kirkland’s signature eggs due to possible salmonella

The eggs were sent to Costco stores in five states.

Costco shoppers who recently purchased organic pasture-raised 24-count eggs, sold under the Kirkland Signature brand, should check their refrigerators. Handsome Brook Farms, which produces eggs for Costco, is voluntarily recalling 10,800 retail units because they may be contaminated with salmonella.

The eggs were distributed to 25 Costco stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee beginning November 22, 2024. According to a company announcement, Handsome Brook Farms initiated the recall “after the company determined that the eggs were not intended for retail distribution and were instead packaged and distributed in retail containers.”

This comes after the Food and Drug Administration changed the ongoing egg recalls to Class I, which is the most serious type. At the time of writing, no illnesses associated with Kirkland eggs have been reported.

How to determine if your Costco eggs have been recalled

The Organic Pasture Raised 24-Count Eggs are marked UPC 9661910680 and the Julian code 327 on the side of the egg carton, with a best before date of January 5, 2025. They are packaged in plastic egg cartons with Kirkland’s signature on them. the top. It is important to note that this recall does not affect any other products.
