    Grocery stores open on Thanksgiving 2024: Kroger, Meijer, extended hours

    As Thanksgiving approaches, chefs and hosts are preparing for what is considered the biggest food holiday of the year. It’s a huge effort, pulling out all the stops to get one big meal on the table.

    But what if you run out of milk, cream or butter for the mashed potatoes? What if you forgot bread for the dressing or filling? Or maybe more guests are showing up and you need an extra side dish.

    Even if you make a list of needed items and check it twice, things happen or are missed.

    Luckily, many grocery stores are open on Thanksgiving Day if you need an ingredient or two. Most will have limited opening hours. Many will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day as a thank you to employees for giving them time with family.
