Lindsay Lohan makes comeback after makeover and Netflix deal

Hollywood loves a good comeback story, especially when it involves stars tumbling from the heights of fame only to claw their way back up again. Recently, at age 38, Lindsay Lohan seems to be writing her own revival story.

Just a few years ago, Lohan was considered one of Hollywood’s biggest disappointments. The former child prodigy, who starred in cinematic gems like “The Parent Trap,” “Freaky Friday” and “Mean Girls” before she was 18, lost her way and became a tabloid hit for all the wrong reasons.

Gossip columns enjoyed dissecting her clothing choices, antics and love life, often with a mocking tone. Public feuds with partners and other celebrities – such as her long-running feud with Hilary Duff over her relationship with Aaron Carter, who has since died – did not help her image, nor did her multiple drunk driving arrests.

By her late teens, Lohan was struggling with alcohol and drug addiction and spent a lot of time in rehab, often under court order. She was repeatedly caught driving under the influence and became a regular in the courtroom. She was jailed twice: first for a short period of 84 minutes, and then for about two and a half weeks.

“I know it’s hard to be followed everywhere, but these are the choices you made,” a judge told her in 2012. “Try to live more maturely. Stop going out and focus on your work.”

Her career took a nosedive, along with her personal life – her films flopped one after another, critics panned her performances, and she didn’t help her cause by showing up late to the sets or not showing up at all, colliding to mess with directors, cause delays, and create drama behind the scenes instead of in front of the camera.

Fortunately, things seem to have changed lately. First she married and became a mother. After a period of sparse work, she signed a deal with Netflix for several films in which she will both star and produce. She’s soon expected to make what many hope will be her big comeback with a sequel to “Freaky Friday,” reuniting her with her on-screen mother, Jamie Lee Curtis.

Speculation suggests that Lohan is using her Netflix deal to prove to major studios that she has turned her life around and that she can produce quality work and attract audiences.

Lohan’s evolution

And of course it can be said: she looks fantastic. After appearing at the premiere of her new movie “Our Little Secret” last week, fans were left stunned. “I’m obsessed with Lindsay Lohan’s glam look,” one enthusiastic fan tweeted, while another agreed: “She’s glowing tonight!”

Another commenter wrote: “I gotta drink whatever Lindsay drinks,” while someone else wondered: “Who is the surgeon behind Lindsay’s face?”

The Daily Mail investigated what treatments Lohan recently underwent for such a dramatic and successful makeover. Dr. Jonathan Sykes suggested that she had likely addressed pigmentation issues and the problematic skin texture that had plagued her in recent years, noting that she may have had subtle Botox treatments.

He also speculated that she may have had a nose job. “Although her nose was always beautiful, its perfection in recent photos indicates that she may have done something to it,” he said.

Dr. Johnny Batridge speculates that she has had more procedures: a facelift, eyelid surgery, a rhinoplasty, brow lift, Botox, lip fillers, veneers, laser treatments and dermatological care. “The total cost of all this would be between $200,000 and $300,000,” he estimates.

No matter what she has done, fans praise her. “The plastic surgery she had is fantastic! She should promote her surgeon,” and “It’s amazing, she looks great,” were just two of the many effusive tweets about the star.

However, it’s worth noting that Lindsay claims this is all thanks to old-fashioned creams and facial cleansing. “I just take care of my skin,” she explained.

It’s still too early to tell if Lohan is truly on her way to a successful comeback, but for now it seems like she has regained favor with the public and the media. The makeover was a success; now we wait to see if her career will follow suit.
