Navy Midshipmen vs East Carolina Pirates Prediction, Odds and Picks

The Navy Midshipmen were undefeated, ranked and active around the world. The Middies put up huge offensive totals earlier this season against the likes of Memphis, Temple, UAB, and Charlotte, etc. Of course, two of those teams have since fired their coaches, and things aren’t looking as impressive as they once seemed. . Notre Dame brought Navy back to reality with a 51-14 win on Oct. 26, and the Middies haven’t been the same since. They have dropped 3 of their past 4 games, scoring 14 or fewer points in those 3 upsets. They’re also just 1-3 ATS in the four-game span, and the under has conceded three straight — though I’m certainly not suggesting that against the East Carolina Pirates.

The Pirates are another team that changed coaches mid-game, but it’s working for them. After the loss to Army on Oct. 19, they let Mike Houston walk the plank – getting him fired after a 3-4 start. They turned the reins over to defensive coordinator Blake Harrell, and who knew the DC knew anything about the offense?!?! It also helps that the schedule included non-bowl teams Temple, FAU, Tulsa and North Texas, but Harrell’s team has scored 38 or more points in every game – going 4-1 ATS in the past five games. The defense still has some holes, allowing 28 or more points in 3 of the past 4, but ECU has just scored more. It should sink Navy at the Rowdy-Dowdy in an intriguing game.

Navy vs. East Carolina prediction: East Carolina +1 (-110) available at time of publication. Playable down to -2.5.
