NBC airs just a few seconds of Lindsey Stirling’s NFL halftime show

Lindsey Stirling closed out the NFL’s Thanksgiving halftime offering with her performance during the Green Bay Packers-Miami Dolphins game.

Viewers watching the match at home could barely see the talented violinist and dancer in action.

Instead of airing Stirling’s halftime show on Thursday night, NBC aired an article about Dolphins fullback Alec Ingold. The package traced Ingold’s origins as a Green Bay resident and adoptee, prior to his return home.

After switching to commercial, NBC showed a quick highlight of Stirling’s performance. The clip lasted only a few seconds before the network went commercial again in preparation for the second half.

NFL fans and entertainment enthusiasts were naturally angry and confused that they couldn’t see the former “America’s Got Talent” contestant in action. After all, NBC’s competitors both aired halftime shows during the Thanksgiving games of their telecasts, with CBS showing Shaboozey’s Detroit Lions concert in its entirety, while Fox did the same with Lainey Wilson’s Dallas Cowboys showcase.

As a result, many took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with NBC:

Neither NBC nor Stirling have commented on the halftime show not being aired. Stirling posted on social media before the game that she was eager to perform in her first NFL halftime show.

This isn’t the first time NBC has chosen not to air a Thanksgiving halftime show in its entirety. The network showed just a few seconds of Steve Aoki’s halftime show during the San Francisco 49ers-Seattle Seahawks game during the 2023 holiday.
