NFL fans desperately want Daniel Jones to sign with Cowboys

NFL fans know where they want Daniel Jones to go next.

In the interest of brightening everyone’s Thanksgiving, fans on X begged the Cowboys to sign Jones after the Giants released him on Friday.

The Giants and Cowboys face off on Thanksgiving at 4:30 PM in a game that traditionally brings in high ratings.

“The Dallas Cowboys have a chance to do the funniest thing with Daniel Jones,” former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III wrote on X.

Barstool Sports’ Big Cat agreed, putting the onus on the Cowboys owner to come through for America: “Jerry Jones could do the funniest thing ever and save Thanksgiving Football.”

“Daniel Jones and CeeDee Lamb on the Cowboys next week,” the FanDuel Sportsbook account wrote next to a video of Tom Brady throwing a touchdown to Randy Moss.

“I’m not asking for much, universe. But this one is a big one. Cowboys QB Daniel Jones against the Giants on Thanksgiving. PLEASE,” ESPN’s Benjamin Solak wrote.

The alternative is pretty bleak, as Tommy DeVito leads the 2-8 Giants against Cooper Rush and the 3-7 Cowboys. Both NFC East teams have the opportunity to add another loss (or win!) to their ledgers on Sunday before the Turkey Day showdown.

The Cowboys entered the season with high expectations, but it was a brutal disappointment and the season officially became a losing season when starting quarterback Dak Prescott was placed on IR with a hamstring injury that will keep him sidelined until 2025.

Dallas has turned to veteran backup Cooper Rush and has remained loyal to him despite mediocre results and the opportunity to give former No. 3 pick Trey Lance a shot.

While it’s possible the Cowboys have interest in Jones, the chances of him being the starter less than a week after being released from the Giants are unfortunately minimal.

It’s also possible that the Giants made a handshake deal with Jones not to sign with one of the team’s rivals this season since he requested his release.

The Giants benched Jones on Monday, relegating him to fourth-string quarterback behind DeVito, Drew Lock and the newly appointed Tim Boyle.

Jones has a $23 million injury clause in his contract, which made it pointless for the team to play him at all in meaningless games, especially after he was demoted as a starter.

“Daniel came to me this morning and asked if we would release him,” Giants owner John Mara said in a statement Friday. “We mutually agreed that this would be best for him and for the team. Daniel has been a great representative of our organization, first class in every way. His handling of this situation (Thursday) is an example of this. We are all disappointed with the way everything turned out.”
