‘Nosferatu’ Popcorn Sarcophagus Unveiled by Regal Cinemas

Regal Cinemas’ newest collectible popcorn bucket isn’t bad.

The theater chain has a Nosferatu popcorn sarcophagus (below) for Robert Eggers’ upcoming horror film.

The ornate box costs $30.99 with a large popcorn – or $25.99 for those who just want to sit in a theater watching a movie with an empty sarcophagus on their lap.

The Nosferatu box will go on sale one week prior (Wednesday, December 18) of the film’s official release date, Christmas Day, December 25.

(By the way, in case you’re wondering what the difference is between a coffin and a sarcophagus: the former is an ancient burial coffin, while the latter is usually made of stone, decorated with carvings or inscriptions and often kept above ground – basically a giant, sealed tombstone.)

Here’s a look at the box without the lighting effects:

The sarcophagus marks the latest viral popcorn collectible that theater chains have created to boost revenue, with the infamous Dune popcorn bucket is the most famous and the Deadpool and Wolverine bucket is the most naughty. The origin of the trend is attributed to the 2019 collaboration between AMC Theaters and Disney to create an R2-D2 popcorn and cup holder for the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which sold out for $49.99 each.

Nosferatu is a remake of the 1922 German classic, based on Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula. The film stars Bill Skarsgard, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney and Willem Dafoe.

Regal Cinemas sees your collectible popcorn buckets and lifts them up with a collectible popcorn sarcophagus.
