Shoppers flock to the stores for Black Friday

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Black Friday is in full swing and people are making the most of these deals.

According to the National Retail FederationIt is expected that 183.4 million people will shop in-store and online between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Experts predict that many people will head to Target, like Kim Blackman of Chesapeake, who was trying to find a Taylor Swift vinyl for her daughter. She told 10 On Your Side that Black Friday shopping is a family tradition.

“I’m one of the OGs. I’m old. I mean, I like it, but I’m old,” Blackman said. “So we were the ones who had the Thanksgiving newspaper, mapped out our route and were at the door when they opened.”

But she said she has noticed in recent years that it takes a while for crowds to show up.

“It doesn’t seem like it’s that early yet,” Blackman said. “The crowds usually come out around 10 a.m. instead of very early in the morning.”

But it doesn’t matter to her, she said the shopping has only just begun.

“This is actually our first stop. We’re headed to Williamsburg.’

Another Target shopper told us what was on her Black Friday list.

“A TV and some games,” she said.

Things she said she got for a great price.

“(The deals) are good, they’re really good. Yes, they are really good.”

She expected a large crowd, but found a welcome, calm shopping atmosphere.

“This is actually nice today. Most of the time it’s crazy, but today – it’s good today.”
