Winter Weather in New York This Week: Will Binghamton See Snow?

Winter weather is officially heading to the Northeast as we approach the end of November.

The National Weather Service has issued several winter weather advisories for parts of Delaware, Sullivan and Ulster counties in New York, as well as counties across the border in Pennsylvania, with a chance of up to 10 inches of snow in some spots between Thursday afternoon and Thursday. Friday evening.

Although no advisory has been issued for the Binghamton area as of Wednesday, there is still a good chance that snow will fall in the area, said Michael Murphy, chief meteorologist for the National Weather Service Binghamton.

Will Binghamton see snow this week?

Murphy explained that the area could see snow starting Thursday morning, and that the area will have “a mix of rain and snow” all day Thursday.

Areas in Broome County with higher elevations could see up to 6 inches of snow between Thursday and Friday, Murphy said, while the county’s valleys such as Binghamton and Vestal are expected to see only 2 inches of snow by the time the storm rolls around. well over Friday evening.

Murphy went on to explain that there is still some uncertainty as to exactly how many inches of snow the area will receive, but the likelihood of snowfall is very high.

The snow is expected to linger throughout Friday morning and afternoon, Murphy said, but the snowfall should be completely over by Friday evening.

Weekend weather in Binghamton

Friday

  • There is an 80% chance of precipitation on Friday morning and afternoon. Rain is expected, possibly mixed with snow. The high for the day is 40 degrees.
  • There is a 50% chance of showers on Friday evening, with a minimum temperature of around 32 degrees.

Saturday

  • There is a 70% chance of rain showers, especially after 1pm on Saturday afternoon with highs around 43 degrees.
  • There is a 40% chance of showers before 1am on Saturday night and it is forecast to be mostly cloudy with a low of around 35 degrees.

Sunday

  • Sunday morning and afternoon it is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high of 45 degrees.
  • Sunday night will also be mainly cloudy, with a minimum temperature of around 33 degrees.
