The US women’s rugby team will have a chance to make history on Tuesday in Paris, but they will face a tough challenge if they want to take home a medal.

The Americans took a big step toward that goal on Monday with their win over Great Britain, but things won’t get any easier on Tuesday, the final day of the tournament.

The reason the Americans were able to make history is simple. This is the third time rugby sevens has been played at the Olympics, but the United States has yet to win a medal in the men’s or women’s competition.

Great Britain, who finished fourth at the last two Olympics, provided a formidable challenge for the American team. However, the US pulled off an impressive 17-7 victory to advance to the semi-finals against New Zealand.

It goes without saying that things aren’t getting any easier. New Zealand are the reigning gold medalists, having won a silver in 2016, and they’ll be hoping to continue that dominance this week in Paris. They certainly did that in the quarter-finals against China, with a stunning 55-5 win on Monday.

Even if the Americans somehow manage to beat New Zealand, they’ll still be playing against Australia, which won the 2016 Olympic tournament, or Canada, which won the bronze medal that year.

Tuesday’s semifinals begin at 8:30 p.m. CT and will air on USA and Peacock. The championship match takes place at approximately 12:45 p.m. CT and will air on E! and Peacock.
