Donald Trump blames UK riots on ‘self-destructive’ net-zero policy | US | News

Donald Trump has said the recent riots in the UK were the result of the country’s “self-destructive” net-zero policy.

On his Truth Social site, Trump took aim at his rival in the US elections, Vice President Kamala Harris.

He said: “Net Zero Lunatics are currently devastating the economies of many other countries, including the UK.

“Their radical, self-destructive policies have led to the UK experiencing its worst economic growth since 1780. They are now causing economic chaos, destruction, riots and death on the streets of Britain’s cities.”

It is not clear what Trump meant when he said the UK has experienced its worst economic growth since 1780.

Riots broke out in the UK last month after three young girls were stabbed and killed at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport.

The violence initially started in Southport and then spread to other parts of the UK.

They were carried out by far-right groups and targeted mosques, hotels housing asylum seekers and vandalism in several towns and villages.

Fake news on the internet suggesting the Southport suspect was Muslim and an asylum seeker largely fuelled the violence.

In his message, Trump added: “Kamala Harris supports the environmental extremists’ ‘NET ZERO’ energy policy – a radical left agenda to phase out coal, oil and natural gas and throw MILLIONS into poverty.

“In the United States, net zero enthusiasts like Kamala Harris want to close power plants even as the cost of energy and electricity has risen by 30 to 50 percent and is still rising.”

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer spoke to former President Trump for ten minutes last month.

Sir Keir called Trump after narrowly surviving an assassination attempt at an outdoor campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania.

According to the i, Trump congratulated Sir Keir on his election victory, while the Prime Minister offered his condolences after the attempted assassination.
