The U.S. and International Championship games in the 2024 Little League Baseball World Series were set after Thursday’s games.

Florida defeated Nevada 6-3 and will now play Texas, while Venezuela defeated Japan 3-2 and will now face Chinese Taipei.

Venezuela beats Japan, 3-2

There was no shortage of drama in the clash between Venezuela and Japan.

After an inconsistent start to the game, it looked like Venezuela was on its way to victory when it scored three runs in the fourth inning thanks to consecutive triples from Beiker Zarraga and Luis Yepez.

However, Japan came back with two runs, forcing starting pitcher Diego Biarreta to leave the game.

Still, Jhonson Freitez shined in relief for the winners, allowing one hit while striking out three in the final three innings. That’s not to say there wasn’t a scare, as Japan put runners on second and third with one out in the sixth inning.

Venezuela then stopped the potential tying run at the plate with a ground ball, before Freitez forced a flyout to secure the 3-2 victory.

Next up is a match against Chinese Taipei, but Venezuela will undoubtedly celebrate Thursday’s thrilling victory first.

Florida beats Nevada, 6-3

A four-run first inning and two solo home runs gave Florida a 6-3 victory over Nevada.

Florida got its first six runners on three singles, then three more. Landon Bono, DeMarcos Mieses and Jacob Bibaud delivered the hits, good for four runs. Mieses had a two-RBI single.

Nevada then mounted its own rally after getting its first five runners on base. Oliver Johnson and Noah Letalu hit RBI singles before Parker Soranaka’s sacrifice fly made it 4-3.

Florida’s power then came into its own when JJ Feliciano hit a solo home run in the third inning, followed by Garrett Rohozen hitting another in the sixth inning.

Nevada kept fighting though and got the tying run on base with two outs on a pair of singles, but a flyout to center field ended the game.

Florida will now face Texas in the US Championship. The two faced each other earlier in the tournament, with Texas winning 4-1.
