We have a role for you as

  • Make sure you have a solid foundation in the fundamentals of computer science, from data structures and algorithms to advanced design patterns.
  • Have a keen interest in large-scale data processing.
  • I love creating and maintaining efficient, scalable, and well-organized code.
  • Experience working with distributed data systems.
  • Experience with search engines and API implementations.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify data-related issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Have a versatile, creative temperament and the ability to think out of the box and at the same time come up with good and practical solutions.

What you will do in our team

  • Create maintainable and scalable code to meet data needs.
  • Contribute to the improvement of current software processes (requirements, design, implementation, testing and validation).
  • Create observability tools that allow other teams to monitor, debug, understand, and tune their big data jobs and pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Data and MLOps engineers to develop and integrate data features and ML models.
  • Support and mentor other teams with software development lifecycle best practices.
  • Help introduce new technologies and develop innovative approaches to the data challenges we face.
  • Apply your honesty, strong morals and ethics, and sense of responsibility to make Flashpoint and the people around you smarter, stronger, and kinder.

What you will achieve

  • Within 30 days
    • Configure your development environment.
    • Get to know today’s data infrastructure through a series of onboarding presentations.
    • Gain insight into your data: its input, output, and usage across teams.
  • Within 60 days
    • Get started with data infrastructure projects—from maintenance tasks to new additions.
    • Gain deep insight into the data pipeline – how components interact with each other at a more technical level.
    • Participate in data discussions (internal and external) and contribute to solution design.
  • By 90 days
    • Be responsible for implementing a new data feature. This could be a request from another team or an improvement to current data pipelines.
    • Have the required skills and knowledge to be added to the on-call service.
    • Become an expert in large-scale data processing.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Knowledge of Java or Scala.
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle processes.
  • Experience using cloud data services.
  • Experience with Big Data and distributed processing systems (Spark, Beam, etc.)
  • Experience with orchestration frameworks such as Apache Airflow.
  • To maintain high-quality and technical documentation of data characteristics for visibility across multiple departments.
  • To further expand and improve the current data infrastructure.
  • To enable new features and data requests for multiple stakeholders: data engineers, analysts, data scientists, and product teams.

Basic salary range: $115,000/yr – $135,000/yr plus bonus
