Expect temperatures in the 80s and low to mid 90s with plenty of sunshine. A few scattered showers or storms are possible as a weak disturbance moves through the region, but most communities will remain dry.

Tuesday and Wednesday there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms again. The maximums will continue to rise until mid-week.

Temperatures will drop as the chance of rain increases again towards the end of the week.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND

Multiple fronts will impact the region beginning Thursday, meaning isolated to scattered storms are back in the forecast. One bit of good news: Highs are expected to cool to the low 80s through Labor Day Monday.

FIRST WARNING: SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS IN DROUGHT

The latest Drought Monitor released Thursday morning shows significant improvements over the WDBJ7 coverage area. Notably, the Southside is no longer experiencing drought conditions and the Shenandoah Valley has been downgraded to a Severe Drought.
