Nikki Garcia‘s husband, Artem Chigvintsevwas arrested for domestic violence after an incident in Napa Valley, California, Life & Style can confirm.

The Dancing with the stars pro, 42, was booked into the Napa County Jail on Thursday morning, Aug. 29, on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge, according to online jail records reviewed by Life & Style.

Before the arrest, officers responded to a report of domestic violence in the town of Yountville shortly before 10 a.m. on August 29. A representative from the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said TMZ that an arrest was made at the scene and that injuries were reportedly sustained. The victim has requested to remain anonymous and the case is ongoing.

It’s currently unclear what happened and who Artem was involved with in the incident. However, Nikki, 40, was active on Instagram just hours before his arrest. The professional wrestler — who was formerly known as Nikki Bella — took to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, August 28, to share a selfie with a caption of her raving about a facial she received at Nude Medical Aesthetics in Napa.

After revealing she was at the medical spa in Napa, Nikki stayed active on social media by sharing a clip of her and her sister Brie-Garcia‘s podcast, “The Nikki and Brie Show.”

Artem was arrested just three days after he and Nikki celebrated their second wedding anniversary on Monday, August 26. Nikki paid a special tribute to her husband by sharing videos of their wedding ceremony on Instagram. After quoting lyrics from Elvis Presley’s “Fools Rush In,” Nikki explained that the song was their “love story.”

“I will never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem. A conversation with Him and God. How my feelings felt too fast. It all felt too fast. And then this song came on,” she wrote. “And that’s when I knew I was falling in love with him and it was all meant to be.”

Artem also celebrated their anniversary by sharing photos from their wedding on his own Instagram page. “Happy anniversary my love, I can’t see my life without you,” he wrote. “You are my everything.”

Nikki and Artem first met in 2017 when they worked together on season 25 of DWTSNothing romantic happened because she was engaged to John Cena However, the dynamic between Nikki and Artem changed after she and John, 47, split in July 2018.

The couple got back together when Nikki was single again, and in March 2019 they made their relationship official on Instagram. Nikki and Artem got engaged in November 2019 and welcomed their son, Matteo, in July 2020.

In November 2023, Artem spoke exclusively with Life & Style about his and Nikki’s plans to have more children. “I’m not carrying it for nine months, so it’s probably not a question for me,” he said on a DWTS when asked if he wants more children.

Although he said the decision was ultimately his wife’s, Artem admitted he “would love to have a daughter.”

“That would be nice. That would be a nice little addition,” the Russian resident continued. “Hey, we can all dream about it.”
