Shedeur Sanders starts the season in Colorado with an unreal first half with two touchdowns

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders showed impressively what he can do with the football during his first game of the year.

The son of Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter of Colorado’s season opener against North Dakota State on Thursday night.

The Buffaloes’ quarterback completed all five pass attempts in the first quarter, while Colorado’s offense scored 14 points in its first two drives.

Sanders caused a stir when Colorado scored its first goal of the game, finding Travis Hunter for a 41-yard touchdown pass to put the Buffaloes ahead.

Hunter made the short catch and then broke a tackle with no one in front of him, running into the end zone to the delight of the Folsom Field crowd.

But Sanders outdid himself on the next drive when the QB threw a pass to Jimmy Horn Jr. on two plays for a 70-yard touchdown.

As the pocket collapsed, Sanders stepped forward to throw the ball to Horn. Just as Horn was about to be swallowed, he hit the receiver in the middle of the field.

Horn eluded a defender and then sprinted down the sideline for the Buffaloes’ second touchdown.

The two touchdowns surprised spectators and even ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky made predictions for next year’s NFL draft.

“I think Shedeur Sanders is one of the top five choices next year,” Orlovsky wrote on X.

The touchdowns weren’t the only moments talked about in the first half.

Sanders also appeared to be suffering from cramps shortly after the Buffaloes failed to convert on a fourth down and North Dakota State scrambled to get its offensive players on the field.

The quarterback gestured toward the sideline for a trainer to come forward, holding his left leg.

This move stopped the clock and gave Colorado’s defense time to get onto the field.

He returned for Colorado’s next attack and appeared unharmed.
