LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — While the second half of the season hasn’t been the prettiest for the Las Vegas Aces, the two-time world champions have a chance to clinch a spot in the 2024 WNBA playoffs tonight in a home game against the Atlanta Dream.

The eight teams with the highest winning percentage in the league, regardless of conference affiliation, qualify for the playoffs. New York Liberty (1), Minnesota Lynx (2) and Connecticut Sun (3) are already in the playoffs.

Seattle Storm is in fourth place behind Sun, Aces round out the top five, Phoenix Mercury is in sixth place, Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever is in seventh place and Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky is in eighth place.

The Aces are not only hoping to make the playoffs against the Dream, but they are also trying to get back into the swing of things, as the team has gone 2-4 since the Olympic break.

Vegas is coming off a narrow 93-90 loss to the Dallas Wings on Tuesday and is also 2-7 since July 16. In that time, the world champions rank last in the WNBA in offensive rebounding (16.7%) and second-to-last in defensive rebounding (67.7%).

Despite the Aces’ rough season, two-time MVP A’ja Wilson remains in contention to win the award for a third time. The star forward leads the league in scoring (27.1 mpg) and blocks (2.67 bpg), while ranking second in rebounds (11.7 rpg) and third in steals (1.93 mpg).

Her supporting cast of characters, including Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young, are top 15 in the league in scoring, averaging over 17 points per game. However, they are averaging 13.7 and 12.6 respectively in their last seven games.

Atlanta is 3-3 since halftime and has lost its last three meetings.

Las Vegas is 1-1 against Atlanta this season. Their final regular season game between the two teams kicks off Friday at 7 p.m. ET at Michelob ULTA Arena and will be broadcast live on ION.
