The top-seeded American at the US Open is back in the quarterfinals.

Taylor Fritz came back from a first-set deficit to surprisingly beat eighth-seeded Norwegian Casper Ruud 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 at Louis Armstrong Stadium on Sunday, securing a spot in the last eight for the second year in a row.

Ruud may have shown more power at times, but from the second set onwards Fritz increasingly started to put the ball exactly where he wanted it.

That is why Fritz will play against the winner, his compatriot Brandon Nakashima, and the world number 4, Alexander Zverev, on Tuesday.
