According to Next Gen Stats, Jared Goff had the highest touchdown-to-interception ratio (31:4) and the second-highest passer rating (116.3) when unpressured last season, including the playoffs. That fits right in for Detroit, which has the NFL’s top-ranked offensive line — not just by my win-share metric, but by PFF as well.

The Lions have finished in the top five in scoring and total offense over the past two seasons, and they have a number of key components returning on that side of the ball. So what’s with the significant range between ceiling and floor results? It’s a result of uncertainty surrounding this new-look defense, particularly the secondary. Detroit’s cornerback group has a high ceiling, but with a pair of rookies lined up for snaps (Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw Jr.), it’s an unstable unit to project.
